Our Land of Colorful Rocks - Arizona Highways Magazine

I was honored to have a feature article in the September issue of Arizona Highways Magazine! I had pitched the idea to the Editor, Robert Stieve, as part of the 100th anniversary of the magazine. In the 1200 issues, they had never really highlighted the Colorado Plateau as a prominent landscape feature within the state. In the course of my research, I discovered that about 43% of Arizona's landmass is on the Plateau. Professional photographers contributed to the article.

If you want to read the article here it is:

A 21-minute podcast was also recorded with Editor Robert Stieve. Listen to it here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/arizona-highways-podcast/id1518862753?i=1000728615092.

  2. What a treat in photos and words, it means so much to me having lived 10 years on the edge of the plateau in Strawberry. I relished all the times out in Rim and Canyon country. Found your blog via a shared link to the Monument Valley post and opened the door to read more, and also happy to find AZ Highways podcast. Came to Arizona on a lark in the 80s for grad school (Geology) at ASU and easily fell for all of the landscapes. Thanks also for sharing the full magazine story.
